⚖️ Pros and cons:

    💭 Personal experience:

We tried to enter this restaurant once with family (4 people: 2 adults and 2 children aged 6 and 9) on a Friday evening at 19:20 in mid-August. Outside, 3 tables were occupied, inside another 2, while the remaining tables (about 15) were free and had no 'Reserve' signs. We were told 'Wait, do not sit, we will check which table is free', after 3 minutes, and miracle, we were told 'All tables are taken.'. Update: I found on the website (https://www.mayabayrestaurant.com/portomontenegro): "***MayaBay asks all guests to wear proper attire. No shorts/bermudas, sportswear, sports sneakers, beachwear or beach flip-flops. Improper attire may result in refusal of entry." We were wearing bermudas, sneakers, t-shirts because it was +37°C. Now it's clear why we were refused entry, too much formality in general, keep that in mind. Again, the restaurant staff did not inform us of this, you have to figure it out yourself.

Probably the only restaurant in Montenegro that I will never go to again, even for free. I went twice, both times wearing shorts and light shoes, and there was no mention of a dress code. The second time was by chance; friends wanted to check it out, and I was already cautious — the first visit was enough for me. Unfortunately, the impression from both visits was the same. An attempt to cheat due to their audacity is just the worst in this country. Not only did they not apologize, but they were terribly offended that we noticed it. The loose interpretation of dish ingredients is jaw-dropping; for example, the Thai salad in the menu picture contains, as it should, spicy cucumbers and pieces of beef. But they brought rice glass (!) noodles with a tiny piece of strange (!) stew with... carrot, maybe? Something orange for sure. Cucumbers are usually green, so we asked again, showing the photo of the dish in the menu – was this what we ordered? Maybe someone at the next table is eagerly waiting for rice noodles with an unusual yellow garnish instead of our Thai salad... Yes, that is exactly the dish you ordered! was the firm response! 😂 Almost everything I tried was surprising. P.S. The colorful dark-skinned waiter started quite decently but very quickly switched to direct, persistent, and sorrowful hints about needing a big tip from us because life is hard for him in Montenegro 😊 P.P.S. The cocktails are really good. I admit it.

We were there, tried it. The rolls were nothing special. Expensive, and we didn't get any pleasure. Some rolls were out of stock, which was very disappointing. The service was excellent.

It's a pity that the policy is not clearly stated. But it must be acknowledged that there are establishments in the world where children under 16 may not be allowed in based on the concept of the establishment. And that's quite okay. Or when the dress code is not followed.

We had the opposite experience. My rolls were 3 out of 5. The rolls with lobster were a complete failure. They didn't remove the onion from the salad. My wife liked the cocktail. The service was good, they tried their best. The rolls at Dukkey Seafront are definitely not worse.

We were at the restaurant when we stayed at Regent. We came from the hotel (internal entrance to the restaurant) around 8 p.m. without a reservation, there were few free tables, we were seated, served, the food was tasty and quite expensive... the atmosphere was pretentious. I definitely wouldn’t go there with children, the menu is not at all child-friendly, apparently that's the restaurant's policy. But the place undoubtedly stands out for the better compared to most Japanese restaurants in Montenegro.
